Jen and Larry: The Ranch Golf Club Wedding
On Saturday I headed to Southwick to photograph the wedding of Jen and Larry! Let me start out by saying, wow. Most of my weddings have been in the eastern part of the state; I went to school in Bridgewater and lived on the South Shore for years, then the North Shore, so most of my referrals come from out that way, and I am used to driving 2 hours to a wedding every weekend. I would now like to get UN-used to that, because driving 20 minutes to Jen and Larry's wedding was AMAZING. Seriously, to have the whole day at home (which was great, cause my niece was over) and not have to be an extra 4 hours in the car... wow. It was incredible.
Secondly, this is EXACTLY the kind of wedding I want to do, always. Next summer I'm not taking weddings because of my Ireland trip, and when I come back, I'm not sure if I'll stay with weddings or try to just do portraits... but if I do continue to do weddings when I move to Vermont, I am definitely going to try to market more to outdoor weddings, where everything happens in generally the same place. Rustic, at home, on the lake... anywhere but a dark, cold church. I don't say this to offend anyone, I really don't.... it's just my personal preference, especially as a natural light shooter who tries to remain stress-free on wedding days... it's much easier to do (for both the photographer and the couple!) when everything is happening in one place :)
Lastly, Jen and Larry? Awesome couple. Amazing couple. The kind I could photograph all day... I just wish I had had more time with the two of them! They are so laid back, so in love, so go with the flow... they really were incredible to work with and I was so glad they found me. They are just that couple you meet who GET IT... they put their families first, they are genuine, their love is easy and fun to be around and amazing to watch. They are just a really great couple. Here are a few images from their day!
Jen made her broach bouquet... isn't it amazing? She's so crafty! She also glittered her shoes herself :)

Oh, and she made these convenient sippy-cups for the bridal party, so that no one spilled their alcohol :)

Jen's grandmother popped in while she was putting on her dress, and even I got a little choked up!!

Larry's former boss brought his AMAZING car to the wedding. This car was featured in the movie Great Balls of Fire, and, as Jen put it, "is more valuable than my life!"

Jen and Larry didn't want a cake originally....

But since her mother insisted, they surprised her by insisting that she help cut it, and they feed her as well!

Jen and Larry, thank you SO MUCH for having me at your wedding! The love you guys have shared for 9 years is inspirational, and I feel honored to have been included as you became husband and wife. Congratulations, and have a wonderful time in Mexico!!
