Shelby and Yuri

Yuri and Shelby.  Where do I begin?  I’ll start with the fact that Shelby is one of my favorite people on the planet.  Legit.  There are so many reasons for this.  One is because she talks like that- legit, BFFL, P.S.- and makes it sound cool.  Very few people can pull that off.  She’s also a scrapbooker.  Huge points for that in my book, being a fellow nerd.  Shelby was once President of Scrappers in Action, an organization that, as her roommate, I was sucked into as the treasurer.  We had no money, but I still made it to the weekly meetings with our other dutiful scrappers (ie Jill, our other roommate) and had a great time.  Another reason Shelby is simply awesome is because her family is simply awesome.   Honestly, whether or not Ellen and T. Scott (Shelby's parents) will be present is a determining factor on whether I am even going to attend an event or not.   They are the funniest people you’ve ever met, and as madly in love as the day they got married.  I could list about a hundred more reasons why I love this girl, but I’ll narrow it down to two: she is a great friend, and an amazing big sister.  From my first month in Gamma Phi, she took me under her wing and became my strongest ally.  She has always been there to lend a hand, an ear, or a Saturn, when my car died and I had no way around for an entire semester!  She is an awesome girl, and I am so happy that she found her soul mate in Yuri, who is an equally awesome guy.  I was lucky enough to be their wedding photographer, and here are a few favorites from the day.   

Now I have to say I usually don't love this effect- changing everything to B&W and leaving one thing in color... I think a lot of photographers over-use it and it doesn't always look nice in my opinion.  However I tried it on this photo and I liked the results.  Let me know what you think!

Normally I probably wouldn't post a picture of the people who caught the bouquet and the garter, but I'm going to end with this photo for a special reason.  Genevieve is Shelby's best friend and maid of honor, and she and her boyfriend caught the bouquet and garter at Shelby's wedding.  I guess there's something to that tradition after all, because I get to photograph their wedding in Martha's Vineyard at the end of the month!  Congrats guys, so excited to see you soon! :)
